Aces Come Up Short in 9-7 Loss to Tycoons
Thursday, 19 January 2023
In the final CIHL game before the Chinese New Year break, the Manulife Macau Aces came up short in a thrilling 9-7 loss to the first-place HKBN Hong Kong Tycoons.
Tycoons Cole Poliziani extended his league-scoring lead over teammate Nicholas Weberg by racking up 5 points (4 goals + 1 assist). Cole sits at the top with 43 points (23 Goals + 20 Assists) - 6 better than Weberg and AsiaXpat Kowloon Warriors Rhett Willcox.
Heading into the break, the Tycoons are in 1st place with 16 points, 6 more than the 2nd-place Warriors and 12 more than the last-place Aces.
The Aces are still looking to field a full team, something that they have not done since their opening night 9-2 thumbing on the Warriors... one can only wonder if the Aces will find what they are looking for in time for the playoffs.
The next CIHL action is on 1st February, with the 1st place Tycoons taking on 2nd place Warriors.
Until then, have a safe and happy Chinese New Year!
