Tycoons Trump Aces in Early Battle for First Place

Tycoons Trump Aces in Early Battle for First Place

Friday, 7 October 2022

Both the Tycoons and the Aces entered the night with a win in their first game, but only one team remained undefeated on the season. The Tycoons made a statement by trumping the Aces 17-3 in the third game of the CIHL 2022/2023 season. Lucas Eshleman, Tycoons veteran forward, who last suited up in the quarterfinals of the 2021/2022 CIHL playoffs, led the Tycoons to a second straight win.

First shift of the game, Eshleman picked up a cross-ice pass with speed and fired a shot five-hole 44 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. Tycoons veteran, Nicholas Weberg followed up with a quick tally to make it 2-0, and Cole Poliziani scored again for the Tycoons 12 seconds later to put the Aces in a 3-0 hole early on. Timothy Henglein scored his first CIHL goal as he jumped up in the play to create a 2-on-1 opportunity, and fired a low shot past Tycoons netminder Emerson Keung.

The second period was an offensive explosion for the Tycoons, as they put up 8 goals in the period. Aces leader and GM Whitney Olsen had Ace's lone goal late in the second.

The Aces were not going down without a fight, with a great third period effort and turning the table on time-on-attack. Tom Allen scored the Aces third goal on a low, hard shot from the slot.

Lleyton Lam had his first career goal, and Julian Ikeda continued his hot streak scoring his 4th of the year. Ben MacAskill looked comfortable in his second game in the black and yellow, with 1 goal and 5 helpers to help rally over the Aces.

Both goalies saw lots of rubber, as Tycoons goaltender, Emerson Keung stopped 32/35 shots with a .914 SV%, and Aces goalie, Arthur Chan, stopped a whopping 52 shots and ended with a .754 SV%.

Next week, the Aces are back in action against the Warriors as they look to stay above 500, and the Tycoons have a well deserved night off in the schedule.
