Sharks School Tycoons In A Lop-Sided Win

Sharks School Tycoons In A Lop-Sided Win

December 14th, 2021

The South China Sharks had little trouble in defeating a young Hong Kong Tycoons team by the score of 10-2 as Jordan So led the way with 5 goals and 2 assists. The Tycoons were without several of their key players and needed to call-up four U-18 players for this game. They did their best to hold off the Sharks, thanks to the solid goaltending from Emerson Keung. It was only 1-0 for the Sharks after the first period when So picked off an errand pass and roofed a backhander into the top corner past Keung.

The second period was a different story as the Sharks shifted into the next gear. Shark's defenceman Eric Molander opened the flood-gates just 1:41 into the period on a power play when he came down the right wing and beat Keung high on the short-side. After So made it 3-0, Kosuke Ikeda got into the act with his 3rd goal of the season when elected to shoot on a 2 on 1 and went high, over the glove to Keung. Conor Daly made it 5-0 before the period ended as he finished off a nice 3-way passing play with Moses Chiang and Ikeda.

It was pretty much the same in the third period as the Sharks continued to dominate. The question was if the Tycoons were going to be able to get one by Avery Gobbo. The answer was yes, when Jon Szychta's solo effort prevented Gobbo in getting his shutout. The goal also lit So's fire as he scored three more times and sandwiched in between was Jeff Griffin's goal as he had a yawing cage after Ben MacAskill's perfect pass. The Tycoons did get one more before the game ended when Yannick Wong poked in a loose puck after a scramble in front of the Sharks' net.

With 7 points in this game, So now leads the CIHL scoring race with 25 points which is 2 points ahead of the Macau Aces Whitney Olsen.
