Tycoons Best Warriors with Late Third Period Push

The Hong Kong Tycoons were able to top the Kowloon Warriors with a final score of 5-3 in CIHL league play Thursday night.
Nicholas Weberg led the charge for the Tycoons, with one goal and three assists to take his league-leading point total to 13. Weberg struck early in the first scoring less than a minute in with assists going to Matthew Nuttall and Yannick Wong. The Warriors’ Devin Welsh responded halfway through the period with an assist coming from captain Gregory Smyth. Patrick Hayes of the Tycoons came back quickly with a goal less than a minute later which had help from Kenden Ng.
Matthew Nuttall opened scoring in the second period for Hong Kong with assists going to Weberg and Jonathan Szychta. Smyth made it 3-2 with a goal 13 minutes into the second with help from Welsh and Jake McDonnell to finish off the second period scoring. McDonnell tied it up for the Warriors with a goal assisted by Josh Gordon 8:44 into the third.
First star Szychta finished with the final two goals of the game to secure the victory for the Tycoons late in the third, one of which was an empty netter. Teammate Nicholas Weberg had a helper on each of Szychta’s goals as well as Matthew Nuttall on one.
Tycoons goalie Emerson Keugn saved 25 of the total 28 shots for a GAA of .893 while Warriors’ Ashley Bock was good for 27 of 31 equating to a .871 GAA.
Next week has a rematch between the Warriors and Tycoons in the lone game of the week which will have the winner taking sole possession of second place in the league.
